Our story began with a few driveways in Hughes, at a time when much of Gungahlin was still under construction. Nineteen years later we're still Canberra concrete installers at heart — same crew, same trailers, same way of pricing a job — even though we've now worked on hundreds of streets across the city.
The big difference now is what we know about the ACT's ground: where blocks stay wet, where you need to dig the base deeper, and which soil classifications warn of reactive clay before work even starts. About Canberra Concrete: common questions
A few things people usually ask us about the business before they ring.
What areas around Canberra do you cover?
All of Canberra, from Gungahlin down to Tuggeranong, and across the border to Queanbeyan, Googong and nearby NSW. Most suburbs are only twenty minutes or so from us, and distance doesn't change the way we price — you'll still get one fixed written quote once we've seen your block.
Is it your own crew on site, or do you sub the work out?
We do all the concreting ourselves. If your job also needs someone else — an engineer, a certifier, or a licensed asbestos removalist before a demolition — we'll tell you and organise them, but we never pass the whole job off. You'll always know who's working at your place.
How do your quotes work?
We visit, check the ground and the access, and then send a fixed price in writing for the base, steel, concrete and finish you've picked. There's no hourly charging and no allowances that grow once we've started. If something on your site really could affect the cost, you'll hear about it before you sign, not afterwards.
Will you be honest if my job isn't worth doing?
Yes, and we do say it. Sometimes a slab should be replaced rather than patched, sometimes the moisture coming up from wet clay rules out polishing, and sometimes the finish you like won't suit the spot. We'd rather walk away than do work we doubt, and we'll tell you before you've paid a cent.
What if there's a problem once the job's finished?
If it's down to our workmanship, we fix it. Whoever you hire, get their guarantee period in writing along with exactly what it includes — most arguments come from confusion over whether something is a workmanship issue, ordinary wear or a faulty product.
