Concrete Services in Taylor

Taylor is one of the newest suburbs on Gungahlin's northern edge, with homes still going up across many streets. For a lot of Taylor owners, the builder's handover is only the start — the driveway may stop at the boundary or not exist at all, and there are paths, a patio and utility pads to add before the yard is usable. Taylor lots were formed by recent bulk earthworks, some on engineered fill and some on cut clay, and the ground around a freshly built home is often full of loose backfill. We pour concrete in Taylor for driveways, paths, patios and pads, working from your builder's levels and the approved crossing, and preparing the base so it stays put. If your estate has a deadline for completing front works, tell us when you ask for the quote and we will plan the schedule around it.

  • First driveways — Driveways poured for the first time from garage to boundary, set to meet the approved verge crossing at the right level.
  • Full yard packages — Paths, patio, clothesline and bin pads priced together and poured in one programme, so you only have one crew on site.
  • Tank & heat pump pads — Level pads for rainwater tanks, hot water systems and air-conditioning units, positioned to the builder's plans.

What's under Taylor

Ground conditions in Taylor

Once the concrete is poured, there's no going back to fix what's under it. That's why we look at the ground here before we price a single square metre.

Fresh fill and recent earthworks

Brand-new lots can still be settling. We look at the compaction certificate where there is one and rework any loose ground before the base goes in.

Backfilled service trenches

Sewer, water and power trenches often run under future paths. Uncompacted backfill is dug out and replaced, or it shows up later as a sunken slab.

Exposed, frosty winters

Open new streets with little shelter get cold. Winter pours are timed around the forecast and covered while curing.

Taylor concrete questions

Questions we hear a lot from Taylor homeowners before we come out to quote.

My Taylor builder did not include the driveway — what now?

That is common on new homes. We pour from the garage slab to your boundary, matched to the garage level and the verge crossing. If the crossing has not been built, it needs ACT Government (TCCS) approval and must follow the standard drawings. We check what is approved and what is outstanding, then quote the driveway, and the crossing if needed, as one job.

Is it too early to pour concrete on a brand-new Taylor lot?

Usually not, provided the ground is prepared properly. The risk on a new lot is loose backfill around the house and in service trenches, not the age of the lot. We dig out and recompact soft areas, use a well-compacted base and reinforce for the site classification. If there is a specific concern, such as deep fill, we will tell you before quoting.

Can you make sure new paths do not cover my weep holes?

Yes, it is one of the most common problems we see on new homes. Paths poured too high against the brickwork block weep holes and can let water into the wall. We set path levels below the weep holes and slab edge where the design requires, with falls away from the house, following the clearances your builder and certifier expect.
